Taiwanese music festival LUCfest has released three music videos for local bands Huan Huan, Go Go Machine Orchestra, and Flesh Juicer. The videos initially made their debut as part of the Taiwanese block at Primavera Pro 2021, an online music conference held from June 2 – 4, before premiering on LUCfest’s YouTube channel LUC UP! on June 10.

The three bands were selected by LUCfest in conjunction with Cultura Taiwán en España, and showcase the vibrancy and diversity of not just Taiwanese music, but Taiwan itself. Shot at different times of day, the passing of time in the videos also highlights the uniqueness of Taiwanese daily life.

Indie quintet Huan Huan start the day off in a sunny plant shop, their laid-back vibes perfectly complementing the greenery that surrounds them. If the idea is to start the day off “with energy and good spirits”, then Huan Huan deliver it in spades.

The afternoon sees electronic four-piece Go Go Machine Orchestra showcase their minimal, percussion-centric sound in an historic bathouse located in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. The band’s futuristic sound and the bathhouse’s architecture combine for a generation-spanning fusion of sights and sounds.

Finally, metalcore band Flesh Juicer close the day with an energetic performance in the center of Ximending, the hub for Taiwanese youth culture. Witnessed by a bouncing crowd, the five-piece run through their high-energy mix of melodic riffing and heavy breakdowns, closing off the day on a high.

LUCfest is a yearly festival held in Tainan, Taiwan. Hailed as Taiwan’s first ever showcase festival, it combines music and forums aiming to connect Taiwan with Asian, and the global music industry.
