The New Southbound Policy is an initiative of the government of Taiwan that aims to enhance cooperation and exchange between Taiwan and countries in South East Asia. Forging closer music industry ties between Taiwan and New Southbound Policy nations is the focus of a project launched by the Ministry of Culture Taiwan. Under the initiative, the MOC’s Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development will organize business networking events and music concerts in NSP countries. For Malaysia, the project will be carried out by Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Kuala Lumpur, assisted by its media agency ROAR Media. Taiwan Asean Music Action seeks to strengthen Taiwan’s music and cultural ties with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and other Asean countries. This project will create deeper music industry links between Taiwan and Southeast Asia, it will also lead to better collaboration between Taiwanese and South East Asia artists in the future. We hope this platform provides the regional music communities with some inspiration and maybe even spark some new and innovative ideas.
